you know what security risk isn't new with smart wifi, i think since last year some users reported that they can actually access someone else comp using limewire and itunes. Its best to put your firewall up and running.

Yes, I know I read somewhere else that there were security problems. I think it was a couple of weeks after they bought Meridian when I read it. There were lots of other problems like NAT.

I was just waiting for more concrete proof before I could start yacking about it.

all the author did was access the shared folders. anyone who keeps a shared folder is vulnerable to probing. i won't beleive a word he says if it's about thechy stuff. JP, you know ALOT more than he does. BELIEVE ME! :)

Pouring out all the grudges from Smart. Hehehe.

They[, at PTB,] did mention setting up at least a SOHO router if you plan on setting up shared folders. Besides, who'd install the NetBIOS protocols and setup shared folders if you're directly connected to Smart WiFi?

This is pretty interesting. One can make money out of this. Just install a web server, and sell digital content (illegal or legit) to those inside the same hub since Smart cannot monitor the peer-to-peer connections within the same hub. Or better yet, intentionally share files.

Another point is that Smart can't do anything else than advise customers since this is almost in the hardware level. It's either they change the infrastructure or live with it.

PS. Patay, alam na ni miss yung blog ko.

NAT isnt a problem at all, except for torrents and online gaming, although nakaNAT na ang smart wifi users we still have to use third party firewalls aside from windows xp for added protection. hehe. everything about smart wifi is a problem, connection, service and security, why o why did i signed with meridian o why. hehe. Well i got no choice, theres no globe here and pldt port were full. i dont like the wireless pldt dsl since its also under same system with smart wifi, so what you get with smart you will also get with pldt-dslw. hehe.
